Come walk in the jungle…

We live in a wonderful world!

Join me in a thinking, joyful journey to learn from the animals.72390_10200888186305740_723925276_n

“An animal’s eyes have the power to speak a great language.”    Martin Buber

544519_10200888187385767_1128413551_n“Our task must be to free ourselves… by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature and its beauty.” Albert Einstein

“Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened.” Anatole France

Enjoy an awakening of the soul by engaging with heaven’s invisible perfections shining in instinctive wonder and beauty through the beautiful diversity of creation. From noses to beaks, claws to paws, what humourous artist could have been more inspired?

“Any glimpse into the life of an animal quickens our own and makes it so much the larger and better in every way.”  John Muir

“Some people talk to animals. Not many listen though. That’s the problem.”
A.A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh

“Man is the Reasoning Animal. Such is the claim. I think it is open to dispute. Indeed, my experiments have proven to me that he is the Unreasoning Animal… In truth, man is incurably foolish. Simple things which other animals easily learn, he is incapable of learning. Among my experiments was this. In an hour I taught a cat and a dog to be friends. I put them in a cage. In another hour I taught them to be friends with a rabbit. In the course of two days I was able to add a fox, a goose, a squirrel and some doves. Finally a monkey. They lived together in peace; even affectionately.

Next, in another cage I confined an Irish Catholic from Tipperary, and as soon as he seemed tame I added a Scotch Presbyterian from Aberdeen. Next a Turk from Constantinople; a Greek Christian from Crete; an Armenian; a Methodist from the wilds of Arkansas; a Buddhist from China; a Brahman from Benares. Finally, a Salvation Army Colonel from Wapping. Then I stayed away for two whole days. When I came back to note results, the cage of Higher Animals 599559_10200888192185887_1913389941_nwas all right, but in the other there was but a chaos of gory odds and ends of turbans and fezzes and plaids and bones and flesh – not a specimen left alive. These Reasoning Animals had disagreed on a theological detail and carried the matter to a Higher Court.”
Mark Twain, Letters from the Earth: Uncensored Writings

“If you have men who will exclude any of God’s creatures from the shelter of compassion and pity, you will have men who will deal likewise with their fellow-men.” St.Francis of Assisi

“Each species is a masterpiece, a creation assembled with extreme care and genius.” Edward O. Wilson

“Animals have these advantages over man: They have no theologians to instruct them, their funerals cost them nothing, and no one starts lawsuits over their wills.” Voltaire

I hope you have enjoyed our short journey and that, like Anatole France suggests, your soul has been awakened by the vitality of creation.

Your next job is to leave the screen, get outside, listen to the song of the nearest bird and embrace anew the fresh air and rhythm of the natural world.

Existence is too short to miss out on the free gift of life offered to us by nature everyday.

“Who can believe that there is no soul behind those luminous eyes!”  Theophile Gautier
